Wow, what a unique and intriguing start to a story! I really enjoyed the way Jojo's personality is established right from the beginning, such a relatable mix of laziness, self-doubt, and a touch of humor. The description of Xuhe Mountain is vivid, and the character of Jojo, especially with the skinless fox aspect, really stands out. It's hard not to feel for this little fox, struggling with expectations and failing to live up to the pressures around her.
I love the dynamic between Jojo and her aunt, there’s this bittersweet tension where the aunt clearly believes in Jojo’s potential, but Jojo feels like a disappointment. It’s like she’s stuck in this cycle of failure and regret, but there’s still a glimmer of hope for something more. The dream sequence was especially powerful, showing the weight of the expectations Jojo feels while also giving us a deeper look into her fears and desires.
The humor, like when Jojo gets anxious about her aunt’s "hmm," adds a nice touch to the darker themes. I'm curious to see where this goes, especially with the mention of the Heavenly Emperor and the mysterious sacred treasure. Can't wait for chapter 2!
