I'm glad you asked; this information is going to be part of the appendices now 👍🏻

The 'Tarl-' part comes from the Tarlroot, a fictional root used to make their famous Tarlroot Ale and other products.

The '-mere' part comes from the 'upwards' streaming salty river that flows near Tarlmere. This river (which is referenced in the chapters 'Outskirts' and either 'The Blue Lake' or 'The Ascend', or both) was either a whole sea historically or was intended to be a sea at some point.
But, nowadays, things are quite unstable in the Outskirts.

Lameth was one of Tarlmere's guards. He was fighting by Roric's side and, should you count them, he was the last remaining.
His name is one letter away from a real historical name.
And, to be honest, just sounded nice 🙂

I'm glad you did like my story and you didn't find it a waste of time or anything.
Indeed my story needs some hard editing if it were to be published. But, I think I'm up for the task, given the proper time.
Now, for the references you mention, I can honestly say that I didn't intended any and I actually didn't even realize it before. But, I suppose, it's only a good sign if I'm subconsciously influenced but something as pure! And, of course, there's no better inspiration for sacrifice than that of our Lord 🙂

Yeah, it's an epic scale catastrophe! I tried to describe what I imagined as best as I could. Since it was night already (and the Common Ground is a closed, flat-earth system where the suns and cosmos orbit around and under the plane), it only made sense that first light would leak from beneath ☀️

Nice! I like the concept of this "princess" and the idea that the two friends/Romans are finding their spirit again and becoming motivated even at such a dire time. I'm preparing myself for the action now! I imagine them fighting while the others are escaping, all uniting together, perhaps reaching the queen and forcing her to submit, or maybe even blowing up (burning down) the whole place! Who knows what will happen? Something nice for sure! 😁
