The blond man didn't teleport. He was pulled to the sword he launched away at an inhuman speed by an invisible force and yes, it was the gauntlet that allowed him to do that. Think of the airstep ability in Kingdom Hearts 3 where Sora can quickly dash to a shotlocked target in an instant. It's the same mechanic except I'm also including the insane momentum from going too fast.

That's also why the blond man was reluctant to use that ability since his legs and right arm are not in the right condition to help keep him catch his bearings after the momentum-based dash. The sword was also lying flat on the ground the last time he used it, so he ended up skidding to it with his body flat on the ground. Rough terrain plus friction burns from going too fast. Ouch.

"As I whip out my Boomstick!" was not a direct quote but it was a reference to the movie, "Evil Dead" where the protagonist, Ash easily defeats a group of attacking medieval knights and a sorcerer by powering through their shields, armor, and magic with a chainsaw and a shotgun (American Isekai! XD). He also scared the rest of the people by calling the shotgun a "Boomstick." You can look it up on Youtube, or I can link you the video if you like. :)

Since crime is considered legal in San Desquiciado, most people there have developed a lack of remorse for killing since they don't have to worry about their criminal records getting defiled by the act when they leave the district to go back to their regular lives outside it.

As hinted by his response to the blond man's armor-piercing question, Davis has killed someone before that recent moment he shot Josh the hooligan in the stomach. Davis points out, however, that he only did something like that while he was in San Desquiciado and he's not proud of the times he did so.

I'm very glad you liked the Wolfsbane! I think there's some potential for creative uses with its function and I'm happy I was able to showcase Fenris' physical capabilities while wielding it. We're not even digging into his [Laws] yet, but I hope the name of the one that was mentioned here may give you an idea on what it will do. Maybe not exactly, but an idea at least.

I hope I covered all headscratchers you may have gotten from this chapter. If not, feel free to ask away! Just like you, I absolutely love answering questions regarding my novel!

So yeah, that's it for now. I'm also excited for the next chapter as well. Who did Davis recognize in the end? A hint to that will be given in a future tweet!

It's good to be back and I won't be letting the momentum slow down for long! Part 2 will be published very soon after I take some time off to do some activities other than write, as well as give that next chapter some tweaks when my mind's all freshened up.

The turf war between Lord Xavion and Mary Glow didn't come off to me as shounen writing but as that is one of my intended genres for this story, I'm pleased you thought that way!

Yup, Mary Glow was based on the KDA outfit of Akali from LOL, but I'll admit I never played that game. DoTA gave me some bad high school memories and I've turned away from that ever since.

Since you consider Rio and Mary Glow your favorite characters so far, I'm getting the feeling that you're into bad girls or at least those who don't play by the rules. I'll admit, I also like those with the potential for snarkiness and unpredictability but I hope I can write a genuinely good-natured character that earns some fans.

I took the time to fix the big error you mentioned, so thanks a lot for pointing that out especially since we can't copy and paste the errors we find here! I also tried fixing the spacing issue, but there were no such issues in the preview, so I guess there's nothing I can do about it for now. I don't think it's that bothersome though.

Yeah, the blond man may have been a weak fighter as how he was portrayed in the last chapter, but some crippling injuries won't mean there's nothing more he can't do. I only wished the gauntlet could be utilized with a more clever strategy with what it can do, but I'm saving those for another time.

Thanks a lot for the read and comment! Stay tuned for part 2! ;D

    Chapter:31

    Feb 25, 2019

It's done. After months of waiting, I finally had my dose of HEC. Thank you for your hard work!

At long last since we first started interacting, Kudo finally settles his grudge with Shinezu and gives him the most fitting punishment for his crimes. I really lost it when Kasara guessed that Shinezu was below level 10 before he started farming dark exp! The fight against him really made me feel Kudo and Hinota's struggle and I teared up a little when they did their good ol' combination of [Plus bomb] and [Fireball]. Naming the combo as "PlusFire" for nostalgia and because it made sense was the right thing to do! I'm hoping there will be other combo attacks soon and I also hope it won't be limited to just the duos like Kuki x Raika or Tsuchi x Mizuri.

Speaking of Shinezu, mind telling me the origins of his name? My first guess was for the combinations of the literal Japanese translations for To die (Shine) and Rat (Nezumi). If I'm wrong, tell me the answer!

Oh, and Sherald had it coming too! Nice of him to make a return only to get one of the most humilating defeats courtesy of Adonis!

I've got mixed feelings but I'm leaning more on the positive side to know that Saka has lost her dark player abilities. E-Plus already has enough members in my opinion and adding more might just make their interactions harder to follow. Her being a maid now has potential for something new, and I'll be looking forward tot hat for sure. Oh, and did the removal of her dark player traces take out her chuunibyou out as well?

That being said, not everything was a smooth ride this time. I felt like the descriptions and grammar in this volume could use some more polish and proofreading as there were some spelling mistakes as well as a whole lot of telling rather than showing such as directly telling how a character felt instead of showing it through body language. I would love to point out everything that I think could be improved just as I did before, but Honeyfeed's restriction on copying and pasting parts of chapters makes it too much of a hassle to go back and forth. The last three volumes for me had the most tremendous descriptions you've ever done, especially the one where Raika and Kuki make their debuts.

Also, regarding two of Hinota's skills [Cross Shadow] and [Fire Force]. Were those two skills foreshadowed before or is this the first time they were ever mentioned? The caught me by surprise, but not in the best way to be honest. If there was some hint to those two sometime before and I just ended up missing out on them, please let me know.

Also, I've encountered the phrase "craned their necks" way too many times. It'll probably be stuck in my head for a while. XD

So now I'm thinking, where to go now that one of Kudo's biggest issues has met it's resolution?

On the top of my head, I'm sure his conflict against the dark players will continue. Arnold has escaped and with Kudo's [Minus Clear] being the bane that throws all the dark experience down the drain, I'm sure this will bring Kudo to the very top of the bounty board for the Dark Pulse.

I was also hoping Shiro's abilities would finally be revealed but he was relagated to just a cameo. Sigh. Next time, hopefully.

One thing I've also been craving for a while is a volume that focuses more on Tsuchi and Mizuri as I feel like they're the least developed with the cast. Kudo and Hinota had volumes dedicated to them when they weren't together and Kuki and Raika had their focus in the debut. Hope you'll put that into consideration.

With all that being said, I'll always continue to support your next move. Whether it be a new volume of HEC (Yay!) or Black Witch (Yay too!), I'll be waiting!

    Chapter:155

After reading through her speech patterns, I will say that my guy (the currently unnamed blond man of ParaRene), will not be speaking exactly like her as I'm aiming for a more 19th-century kind of British English. If anything, Saka talks more like the Knights of Viola, the guys who got slaughtered unceremoniously by Rio in her first moment of action. Still, I'm not going to say I've learned nothing from this. Continuing to read Saka's style of speech will make nice reference material!

Moving on, this was a pretty relaxed story arc and I got myself a clear understanding of Saka now! Her unwillingness to mingle with the guild probably has something to do with her relationship to dark players and I'm also feeling like Kudo's sympathy for her also extends beyond anything dark player related like how he used to be anti-social himself. That's one thing I remembered. And might I ask, is Saka around Hinota and Kudo's age?

Also, the comedy continues to be a fun read that helps to brighten my day whether or not it was bright already. Hinota's jealousy for Saka taking Kudo's attention along with Mizuri and Raika's anti-oppai rants were the highlights. Nice of Hikari to show that there's still hope for them.

I'll continue my read of this volume when I can be sure that there's nothing else bothering me because I really want to immerse myself in the stories I enjoy with no distractions to make me miss out on something that might be important later. So, until next time! :D

Alright, because of what you guys think and because I now agree, "ParaRene" will be the official abbreviation! When it came to "POTR", I also thought of Harry Potter. The Lord of the Rings, however, didn't come to mind until I thought of replacing the P with L.

It makes me relieved to know I'm doing well so far with the world building. I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on the potential of San Desquiciado, and I want to try and push that potential to its limits, but I don't think that will be possible with my current plans. At the very least, San Desquiciado is here to stay no matter what happens in the storyline.

I want this story arc as a means to give more screentime and development to characters who didn't make much of an appearance in volume 1 like Davis, while also setting up what will lie ahead of Lucas now that he has accepted what happened to him. He's been playing it safe for so long, so now it will be time for him to get a taste for what lies outside his safety zone. I'm really excited for the day I can finally reveal the purpose of Logen and the blond man too! (You'll learn his name soon enough as well!)

And to end this, I'm really, REALLY happy that you see Rio as the way you do. The idea about feeling like she "always hiding around the corner" was a nice way to sum up my vision of her in a way I didn't think of! Thanks a lot for providing me your insight as there are some tidbits an author can miss out on when developing his story. Leave it to his readers to help him realize the true potential of his work! :D

As you know from our previous interactions, now would normally be the time I'm waiting for sleep to claim me. But what the hell, I always love answering comments! XD

With what seems to going on, Davis just couldn't stay jealous now that a bigger concern had presented itself. He knows when to let his childish jealousy or his dirty mind run wild, and now just isn't the time for that. Bros before hoes alright, but I wouldn't see Davis following that if Lucas wasn't in any sort of trouble.

You didn't miss anything when the word "Rebellion" first came up here. While its name has now been revealed as of this chapter, I have been displaying that very technique indirectly since the prologue of volume 1 and a few more times in said volume. Heck, the prologue of volume 2 had a quick scene where I displayed it again! Whatever the case, it will be exposed and placed in the spotlight in a future chapter and I'm really excited to reveal its details in full when the time comes.

Now then, let's talk about Logen. I conceived that guy when I was writing that chapter of Rio singlehandedly maiming the 4 hooligans in the alleyway back in volume 1. As for his connection to Lucas, that will cover the first half of this volume. I'll just say that Logen is the reason why Lucas is the way he is right now.

Yess, the husband with metallic blond hair is the character who has a similar speech pattern with Saka, though I'd say Saka has a more archaic pattern.

Here's to hoping you'll enjoy the ride! A full story arc starring other characters, with no direct involvement from neither Lucas nor Rio. Then again, they're still getting referenced. Guess I truly can't abandon them. XD

Oh yeah, what abbreviation do you think is better for this novel?

    "POTR" or "ParaRene"?
