June 21st, 2020 was the last time "Parable of the Renegades" made it to the #1 spot in both the Weekly and Monthly Rankings!

As this is my first web novel, I can't ever hope to describe how ecstatic I am! Thank you to all my readers for the rad comments, which I always make time to read. I hope I can continue to write prose that makes your already satisfying day even better!

My apologies for the overdue reply.

I always want to subvert expectations to help keep my story interesting so I'm really pleased with the potential you believe it has, and I'll do my best to keep it up.

I wouldn't say Lucas and Rio have gotten intimate to the point that they are willing to go a step higher. Consider this as a mutual apology for the damage they have done to each other during their fight. As Rio stated in this chapter, she wanted Lucas to pay for personally attacking her, but re-opening the wounds he stitched closed was not what she had in mind. That was why she offered to treat them herself.

Rio is not the type of person who's had plenty of experience in relationships whether it be one of friendship or romance thanks to her Renegade abilities and that only makes her crave it more. This is why she isn't good at keeping herself too reserved from Lucas as he is becoming someone who she feels will be spending time with for a while thanks to the blood-bound contract she placed on him. He's also got some qualities that she finds amusing or she feels can sympathize with and that makes her even more willing to let her guard down without being aware of it, but there's also a reason why she treats him like a bully instead of a friend.

I'd like to mention some things about why Lucas continues to treat Rio with kindness even though she had turned his life into one that may dangle on a thread, but that would be a spoiler.

The prologue was just meant to be a set-up for how this world came to be. The guy responsible for breaking the silence is not the main character, but I wouldn't say that he's a one-off character.

For a while now, the only notifications I kept getting were that someone added this novel to their library and nothing else. I'm really happy that one of them revealed themselves right now! I hope I'll know from now on that you'll be sticking around, and I hope you're looking forward to what happens next!

You're not alone when it comes to making theories. I for one want to get good at that too, and I'm glad I have some readers who make such comments that I hope to learn from them, too.

I apologize for any confusions regarding the abilities of the Renegades, but I'm glad the way Lucas understood it helped. Being a shonen battle manga fan, I've wanted to create my own battle system for a long time. That doesn't mean you can expect a fight every chapter though, I want to always create some sort of set-up before the inevitable slapdown. This volume, which will end in a few more chapters was meant to be all about how slowly Lucas' non-eventful life was slowly turning upside-down. Next volume will be when things truly start heating up.

Your understanding of my main characters was very in-line with my intentions, by the way. Rio was heavily fleshed out for the reasons you have stated and Lucas was a little more subtle because his character will be exposed through his action in the present day. Doesn't mean we will be looking into his past often, but it's not out of the picture.

It's the middle of the night for me as I wrote this reply, but getting a notification for a comment on my novel after such a long time was the key to waking me up. Not only that, I slept early because I had a jackhammer of a headache. Lo and behold, the comment cured it. True story. Guess I'll take the extra waking hours and motivation to continue writing, then. Thanks again! ;D

Thank you as always!

I'm hoping that by going outside your expectations, that was a good thing because I'm pretty sure we all want to surprise our readers. And I really want things to go nuts while it enhances the experience of the story at the same time. Lucas and Rio just can't catch a break, could they? More so for Lucas.

I'm also glad I was able to finish editing this chapter within the week. I thought I could go full writer mode after Monster Hunter's Spring Blossom Festival came to an end, but no... They just had to update the game with a new monster that would only be available for a limited time! New mon is a pain to farm, but the equipment is absolutely glorious!

I'm pleased the time you spent on this chapter was worth it considering I was treading over the character limit. I'll do my best for the next chapter as well! :D

I appreciate the offer, but I already have a full schedule as I even have to make time for myself just for when it comes to writing this work. Lately, I've gotten busier in real life to the point that my release dates for my later chapters keep getting delayed or released every few months. Once again, I appreciate the offer but I will have to decline.

Also, I'm not really the type to judge people just because they consider themselves freaks or like weird things. It's because of the weird and the wonderful that I fell in love with anime / manga / light novels in the first place.

Anyway, thanks again for giving me a second chance. I hope the rest of the novel doesn't leave you confused as the prologue did. :D

Okay, here we go!

One day, the entire world was given a warning that another race of intelligent beings called the [Renegades] have been existing alongside humans since the very beginning.

The warning was shown as a broadcast from every source of media (TVs, Public big screens, etc.) where a seemingly ordinary human revealed himself as one of these [Renegades] by ripping off his skin, showing that his human appearance was like a costume and that his true form underneath it looked more like a demon. He also showed that he can re-grow his human skin to make himself appear human again (but it does not bring back his clothes).

After revealing the existence of his race to the entire world, the [Renegade] destroys what was next to him, which was the engine of an airplane called the "Grand Eagle." With the engine destroyed, the airplane (which had several world leaders riding it at that time) crashed and no survivors were found.

Now the entire world needs to adapt to this threat.

Glad things are going good so far!

There is such thing as a fighting move called a "Cameron's Feint"!? I honestly had no idea!

As for the setting, Sarkansas is loosely based on Arkansas. Every country or continent in this world will have modified names because they are fictional versions of the real thing. I'm doing this so I can have some room for freedom as while I will try to portray them as accurately as possible, I might make some changes to their culture if I feel it could make them more interesting. ;)

A short, but sweet volume that occurs at the same time as volume 5. I gotta hand it to you, this ending was nothing but perfect!

For Hinota, Erijo truly felt like more of a prison than a place to return to when things go bad. Even with all the luxury she had access to, she still felt like she was locked in a cage especially since her family had arranged for her to be politically married.

Which brings me to my thoughts on Lariz. I'm always researching on what can make a good villain as I have yet to make my characters face a real one as of this time of writing. After reading on how Hinota's asshat of a cousin plays his role, I gotta say, he's a great one in my opinion! As a whole, Lariz represents every nightmare Hinota would be subjected to had she failed to beat him. Let me make things clear though. Because of his douchy personality, lack of redeeming qualities and typical dialogue he would have felt like a one-off villain if he appeared in any other story-arc you've written so far. I say he's a great villain because he's the right kind of antagonist for this very story-arc and not because he's got tons of character that make me want to remember him. I mean he's a douche, but there are others like him that I actually like.

And so, it ends with Hinota having truly attained her freedom, formed the Earthfire (which will be disbanded later to form E-Plus) and her touching reunion with Kudo. Now I've got another volume to catch up to. Cheers, and I'll give my next set of likes and comments on the next one, real soon. :D

By the way, the editor side of me detected a misspelling of "Earthfire" in the last lines of the previous chapter. I'd love to keep giving you my two-cents, but since it's a hassle that I can't copy and paste what needs correcting, I'll just point out what I can remember.
