I'm super happy you like Kai and Trish, they are at the center of this story and they're the characters I'm most proud of. And as for the plot, I'm glad you liked it too! I always thought that the way I formatted it was risky but it seems to have payed off.
On the point of the philosophy, I'm very happy you brought it up! One of the major ideas behind Kai and the formatting I chose was to allow me to tackle really specific philosophical ideas that won't leave my brain. They might be stupid, insignificant or incomprehensible to others but it's stuff I personally think about a lot. So I don't go in with any specific school of philosophy in mind just a philosophical thing I want to talk about.
My favorite thing about reading reactions to Kai will be how people respond to that I think, I imagine it will inspire a range of reactions, good and bad, from different people.
