It's certainly a concept I've never seen before. Well, there's the Freddy Krueger versus Jason Voorhees move, but that's just two slashers, not a thousand like I would want to see from a movie.

I originally got the idea for this when I figured out that all shonen manga were basically X + shonen manga = X shonen manga, so I thought what hasn't been done yet? The answers were slasher shonen manga and caveman shonen manga. I still think a Flintstones-style shonen manga would be fun, but I knew that that would be tricky to write since the world building would be so important, and the idea of a slasher battle royale came immediately and has a clear path of narrative progression.

As for Sam, be careful what you wish for!
