I mostly read this for the comedy and other shenanigans at first, but I think this chapter and the previous one is what really got me fully interested in the system stuff instead of just kind of curious like before. So, will be interesting to see where that goes :)
I also don't think the plot comes across as particularly contrived or anything either(and if there's one thing I've learned from reading enough Stephen King books, it's that you can certainly always end up somewhere no matter how lost you get while writing. Most of his books are good, but some of them have some seriously weird detours).
