she actually doesn't like the game that much, it just contains her all-time favourite character! she doesn't like the webcomic's mischaracterization and surface-level adaption and all that, but she's more attached to the dude than the game.

yeah the meta stuff is this is.........unfortunately why I mentioned earlier that I do end up info-dumping a lot and not in a good way LOL there was an intention, at one point, to reference how a number of my favourite otomes end up with a meta ending of sorts to connect the routes---however, given the time constraints, more than half my outline had to be squeezed into a couple of chapters. In hindsight, I should've cut it if I couldn't expand on it 😭😭😭

Even though there's less of a surprise, it's still intriguing! an attention-grabbing title for sure :D

and oooh I see! it's interesting to note how things could've gone instead, because that sounds different enough it could affect both the direction of the plot and their relationship down the line :00 old version still sounds interesting, though I definitely do prefer the direction you took in this rewrite !!

Really effective use of sensation (temporary loss of hearing thanks to the blast) to describe Chika scaring the vormarnok away, whatever she’s using being something the people in the fantasy world had probably never encountered before, basically I really Feel the disorienting-ness from this passage hehe
--though, makes sense people would treat her like a witch, and be wary of her. I think the commander prooobably means well. Hopefully. But he seems like the type that would reject everything and anything ahfjdsf I’m just glad Thelian’s compromise is enough to keep her safe….for now.
OK I TAKE IT BACK the commander sucks LOL, I feel him, having some rando pop in to save them is suspicious, but he’s >:[
Vitafelars huh? Sounds….healthy hahaha, some sort of food source that stains the teeth of the locals is seems :0 I really like when there’s a bit of culture clash in isekais, the teeth thing was kinda unexpected, but welcome! Life-saving fruit….I wonder if there’s a food shortage or disease, or smth else going on here…?

A really good balance of worldbuilding and characterization of the MC in the first chapter! I’m a huge sucker for beginning in media res, and you do a really good job unfolding the scene, the characters here, and the beginning touches of worldbuilding in barely a few paragraphs. 👀

The fight scene against the vormarnok was very nicely-described, showing just how helpless humans are against them even with the most herculean effort among the soldiers---which frames the saviour’s arrival perfectly! I liked the detail of her holding the hat in place hahaha. Also “guy with a hat” LOL….hat buddies :’)

I feel like going into this completely blind (like without knowing the title) would yield a slightly different effect, but even knowing that Chika is likely from Earth, it’s still very cool to see her using (probably) science and creativity as opposed to magic! The fact that the isekai’d person from Earth is not the MC is a very good hook, and Chika seems very cool already! Excited to see how they interact, with Thelian’s life already grounded in the fantasy world :D

I think the way you described it is pretty much what happened! There's no particular good reason that I found haha it was more self-discovery in a way? ---the horrible realization that for one to make an accurate otome isekai, one had to write an otome game, AND the isekai version in order to make it work. The elemental magic system + royalty formula suddenly never sounded more appealing..... 😭

I have....very Strong Feelings about this sub-genre, so I fear this story is kind of an extension of that, but I'm super glad that it resonates with you :D after all the research I did over the summer and the process of writing this, I begrudgingly understand why otome isekais evolved the way they did 😭

aksdhfajshf and I'm honoured to hear there are parts that you're taking notes on!! I'm embarrassed to say that there is actually quite a bit of unabashed lore dumping-- when I realized I was juggling explaining 3 versions of the same story it only got worse 😭 😭 but hopefully the chapters that aren't like that are somewhat helpful! thank you so much for reading!

and omg I'm so glad to hear that HAHAHA as you can see I had a ton of fun with the stupid colour-coded characters subplot, or more naming scheme than subplot akjhdfljadhjf I'm honestly like. how do the other characters even pronounce this guy's name with a straight face??? (answer: they don't)

and that is a very strong possibility! tho the route I took threw most possibilities straight out the window haha! yepppp Gideon's the divisive route, he's here to ruin everyone's lives if you don't pick him ;D

LOL YEAH this is a product of my laziness bc I find it difficult to write about adjusting to a new name (I spent too long describing how weird and uncomfy it was to end up in a new person's body, I'd spend probably another 5k on Orion getting used to being called smth else)

YEAH OMG same hat though I'm glad you pointed it out ;D and yes, I definitely teased a sort-of confession too many times haha, but this one's the most fitting hehehe, that's something I feel like would be a biiiig isekai struggle, because is it the looks or the personality or are you just a fangirl (Halie) ????/ and yeee it is intended for Halie and Eilah to look pretty similar (if not identical except for hair/eye colour) so!!!! Orion's just in denial for a while haha!

I absolutely love writing about a game with inconsistent worldbuilding so I don't need to be consistent either ;))) yepppp Orion's come so far, now he's finally ready to become one with clay~~

KJAHDFLJK I do like how you mentioned the stinkiness because that was the only thing I could think of while writing this.....post-apocalyptic media is Too Glamorous and they are not allowed to escape the stink of reality!!!!!

not sure if it's too obvious, but all the suffering people are elderly folk because they encountered contaminated water back when it was still contaminated! which is why the council immediately Knows that Halie couldn't have touched the water before, bc she's young ahaha

YEYEYE I condensed SO much of the plot here into an infodumping session again ajkhfklajds first we learn the truth of the world, and then we learn the off-the-rails meta stuff ;D my fave kind of otome game - I've actually never played Hatoful Boyfriend omg!! I REALLY should bc it's my jam for sure tho haha!

and no worries, this whole chap can be REALLY confusing bc I'm dumping 3000 plot points at once, #2 is correct! however, I feel like if this was a real game series, then the company that made the game would then make #1 into an actual "prequel" game that is released later wahaha

and haha yes! they do have green eyes, though one of my biggest weaknesses coming from writing fanfic for 15+ yrs is......that I HATE describing appearances jkahsflkjahsfljf
