How much of the world is honestly left intact if these things can multiply this fast? And for how long have they really been a threat for? If one can spread so fast, these things are like intelligent sewer rats/cockroaches that are absolutely inclined to exterminate people. I wouldn't even be surprised if they operated under some sort of hivemind.
On the note of "operating under a hivemind", I'm started to notice from this chapter in tandem with the last about how the guilt Jin may be feeling is not what's holding her back to the organization, but rather BINDS her to it. The psychiatrist, who has obviously worked with other Runners before as she said, never really dived into the guilt Jin feels and I wonder if that's intentional. Additionally, Chang highlighted some interesting points about how being hated while not knowing what you did must make you feel absolutely lost. And with that feeling of loss perhaps, is a dependence on the organization.
