as other people have noted, I feel like in the pursuit of 'wholesome' the tone of the story suffers in the sense that it doesn't go up or down, but stay still, like a pond without fish
it's entertaining so far but I've yet to see any core wound so to say

I mean, I'm ngl, I kind of wanted sylas as far away from these people as possible, and it's clear he's a scumbag of the worst kind, but
I still kind of feel bad for him ngl
but like if actavio hadn't done that sylas would've almost certainly killed his family and tied him up in his basement idk there wasn't much he could do
as for sylas... he knew it was sus and he went for it anyway

the mom is so cartoonishly evil I couldn't take their conversation seriously, but ngl, I kind of get where she's coming from, in the sense that her behavior seems to stem from maladaptative coping mechanisms due to trauma
sometimes people have to blame "things" so they can move on, even if they know deep inside that it's stupid
idk
to be fair, I don't think you portray her as "wrong" or anything, which is a good thing
it's just that the dialogue was so on the nose compared to the backstory that it detracted from rather than complimented the chapter imo

I'm looking forward to see how their relationship mends though c: it's the small 'character' moments I like the most
