I found a lot of the imagery really nice (like the old man turning into sakura petals) and to a degree the way it's written 'paints' the story, but the technical mistakes such as past and present tense getting mixed up, misuse of semicolons, random capitalization where it didn't belong, incorrect punctuation during dialogue, etc. kept taking me out of the story, unfortunately. At times I thought it might be stylistic or something, but it really DOESN'T feel like it, if you get it. With that said, I'm a fan of the concept, the way it's presented, and the approach to the prompt, which I might've seen here and there, but certainly not in this way :P
