Their character dynamic is something I really enjoy. You can tell that even in impatience, she’s actually a pretty compassionate person. She wouldn’t have saved him otherwise. I like both leads a lot so far.

Double commenting, but I did want to note that the chair glitch unlocked a memory of playing banjo kazooie nuts and bolts 🔩 and using the flying glitch to get over barriers. Very nostalgic.

Quite an ungrateful commander after all Chika went through to help, but it turned out for the best. Reading this is unlocking a core memory of Samurai Jack for some reason when I was a kid, and the intrigue that I had for it. I like the first two chapters a lot!

Jumping into this chapter, I loved how vivid your descriptions were. With the creature in particular. Dark Fantasy is my favorite genre so I really don’t mind this kind of set-up before the wholesome comes later. I’m curious as to how you’ll manage it.

I like the imagery starting out. We get an “Ace Attorney” type opening with a little suspense there at the end. Good start! Heads up, “wavy” is used twice in the first paragraph to describe her hair. I’d take one away.

I would consider restructuring the first couple paragraphs to not sound as mechanical, and redundant. The word “basketball” is the used five times within the first two paragraphs. I liked the chapter though!
