Good to point out on a physical level there's an innate draw to gauge other's reactions to things you do, so Agreste looking over towards Theresia is as human as I could make him. People tell jokes, and then immediately look over towards the person they told it to, to see if they're smiling or laughing. I use this a lot.
As for the 'changing' of the character, I really wanted to hammer in the fact that he's not okay. We can all just say that we're fine, which he chooses to do, but that's once again, just a 'mask' upon the greater issue -uo
