Hi, his is really good advice! Thank you for reading everything that's out so far. I'm also aware that I've not introduced enough romance elements so far, which I'll definitely need to come back to. Raised stakes is definitely something that we will see in the upcoming arc. But first there will be a little buildup with some more bonding before the arc really kicks into a higher gear.

The prologue was hooking but confusing at first because of the "mother killer" thing yet I still enjoyed it. But now, you've gone and turned this prologue into a straight up masterpiece. There's nothing here for me to criticize, only felt pure bliss going through this chapter, and that's not hyperbole.

For a little kid to be all alone by a remote lake, without knowing where he's from is suspicious. Especially if that kid claims to come there all the time. But on it's own that's not enough to suspect someone of being non-human. The main reason for the narrating Oliver of the future to suspect that the boy wasn't human I can't tell you yet: it would mean spoiling a future chapter. For his exact identity, I prefer to leave it up to the reader's imagination!
