Feels like we got some tangible character development for Ichiro and Izumi in this chapter. Poor Izumi, falling over after acting so haughty. I'd die of shame.

Thank you so much! My primary concern when writing this story is to make everything easy to visualize for the reader, so this is a nice compliment. I've only seen two episodes of Elaina and I had honestly forgotten all about it. But now that you mention it, there may be some similarities.

A lot of what's written here can be revealed later and doesn't feel 100% essential right now. Once you've cleaned up this chapter I'll be able whole heartedly recommend this novel to others.

We'll have to wait and see if they can reach the capital in one piece! I've added a detail to chapter 2 that Oliver's father owns a woodworking atelier in the capital, do with that information what you wish. I was planning on revealing it later on but it felt better to have it mentioned early.

I'd add a few more linebreaks here and their and rework the dialogue in the exposition dump a bit. Beside that, another nice chapter!

Loved the action scene, and there was some enticing worldbuilding and mysteries before that. Another great chapter!
I've moved a chunk of chapter 4 over to here, and added some additional things here and there. Forgive me for making you guys read the same dialogue twice! 🙇
