I think of it more like "picking and choosing your story focus"! In your story, you are focusing on: Romance, Isekai, World Building, and Adventure/Battle. Those story elements lend themselves to a more in-depth look at the world and the magic in it, so that everything feels grounded, and there's a layer of realism to the fantasy!
For my story, my focuses were: Romance, Isekai, Comedy, Love Drama, and Parallel Worlds. Because those focuses didn't really lend themselves to an advanced magic system, I ended up deliberately choosing "looser" magic. That way I could use the magic for comedic moments, or to jump between parallel worlds (without thinking about it too hard 🤣) If I had a more in-depth system, it would lead readers to question "wait how can you just hop between dimensions??"
I feel like your exploration of magic systems here is really cool! And it still works with the romance, because the magic training is what's bringing them together!
