Man I am reading this, just thinking to myself how freaking cool this chain concept is. The idea of him basically *willing* himself to have clothes, form, pains. Sometimes he has control over these, but sometimes his subconscious wins out and reverts him to what he knows (ie: feeling hungry.) And the complexity and familiarity component limits the magic so he can't just pull a "I transform into a mountain and squish you!!" kind of trick 🤣
Really, I love the limits too, because that gives you defined areas where you can play with its skills!! (I'm also a huge fan of well-defined magic systems in stories, so that may be a part of my interest hehe.)
(...I say this while currently writing a story where my magic system is "whatever goes" >w> but that's because I had to let go of the magic system to focus on the story being light hearted instead)
Does this mean Layn could will himself to be stronger, if he believed he was? 😯 He isn't intimately aware of what "strength" feels like yet, but I feel like he could learn bit by bit!
