It's hard sometimes to love someone, even when we love them so much 😞 life be complicated like that.

Haha okay I might have generalized a bit for sake of story 🤣 but I don't want *all* humans to look bad!! I might have to fix that a bit during revisions! 🤗 but yes! I wanted their world to have some tension between their fantasy species, some likes and dislikes. They're trying for cooperation -- like the humans granting citizenship for half-beasts, with a lil push from the elves! (But that was still decided on by humans 😌 so it's a step towards peace!) Okay I could probably go on way too long about the fantasy dynamics and social laws 😂 I gotta keep things simple since the focus is the romance & characters!!
But thank you for reading 🥰 I hope it's been fun so far! I've really been enjoying reading your novel too, I eagerly await more mysteries!

I read the first two seconds, and all the world building and storytelling reminds me of something mythological, of some of the longer tales of heros!! It's very cool, but I gotta admit, I was not really sold until you threw out "Texan, actually" 🤣 okay. NOW I'm interested!!
I'm trying to think if there's a way you can sneak this punchy line into your first chapter, to help capture more readers!! Something to consider!
Also I love the cover art :D
