To me, it felt like this story's final message is:
"Life is what you make it. How you see it will undoubtedly change when you take the step to change it yourself."
I feel like Cecilia coming full circle and diving back to finish her studies was the next step. She put off on her own path, being sidetracked by the daydream of her journey which ended with an awoken disappointment that it wasn't real.
