She's unable to tell a lie. If there's a merit of truth to it, then she can fudge a little bit. She can also keep herself from answering, but in this case, she got into trouble because it was an innocent question that she answered without thinking.
I just noticed that. The extra line breaks seem to be a formatting error. I'm not sure how to fix it because I typed it in Word and just pasted the whole chapter over. On the chapter submission page, I don't see that extra line, so it's strange...
