I think I understand why the first two comments said this chapter was not as good, but honestly, I don't agree. The first chapter had more going on, but it felt like it was skimming through most of it. This one felt more grounded and focused, although very little happened, but regardless of how short it was, I still enjoyed it more.
Either way, I am liking this MC and I think his personality shines through with things like the comment about the cat, but I do have to say that I'm not the biggest fan about keeping his name as [Male Protagonist]. I do see your comment that it might or might not be a placeholder, and that you need a name for the girl, so if you ever need a website for Japanese names there's this website called "japanese-names.info" (Without the quotations obviously). They have a bunch of names there with their meanings.
Also, I did feel ever so slightly distressed by the conditions of the previously mentioned kitten. That might just be because I have a few cats myself, but still.
Anyway, great job with the chapter! I will be reading the rest.
