Oh, only 3 trials? Hercules be over like "what's this mfer worried about?"
I found it interesting your note that Cecilia had "doubts" about herself and Anselm. Because while you've mentioned it several times, it hasn't really sunk in. For example, the line, "and I, hopefully, had the honor of being his wife" suggests that she's hopeful about the prospect of marrying Anselm, not doubtful about it at all. I guess what I'm saying is that while you've done an excellent job of conveying their feelings for each other, if the reader is supposed to get the impression that Cecilia finds herself unworthy to be with Anselm I don't think that's been properly conveyed. She's mentioned how she thinks she's not particularly pretty, and then those thoughts sort of pass. It doesn't feel like having low self-esteem about her worthiness is really ingrained as part of her character. Maybe if she had thought more on that when Anselm was complimenting her, or that was one of her many worries. Or even focus a little more on those feelings of inadequacy compared to Anselm after Bathsheba's rejection, those would all be great ways to really reinforce that feeling.
But otherwise, they've made grade progress forward, as have you! I can't wait to see more!
