At first glance, the Reyes family feels like a "picture perfect" suburban family, with 1st world problems.
Agreeing with other commenters, some statements felt unnatural, purely for the benefit of the reader (like did Chloe really have to point out Alexa's intelligence to Alexa's own mother?).
I would say Mark was the most natural of the cast, as his frustration was genuine, never having his parents attend in 2 whole years to something he takes pride in makes me wonder just what does the family have going on.
Other than the dating advice to Damien, a lot of the dialogue really didn't feel that natural in this chapter, and the challenge there is that could cheapen the drama planned out in future chapters, because drama requires compelling emotions to be enjoyable. It's hard to have good drama among robotic seeming characters
