If Elaindra is half-elf, that little tidbit gives quite a bit of insight on the discrimination she receives, although its a bit interesting an elf would work as a maid in the first place in the palace (unless it was due to the affair that Elly's mom became a maid which is just as plausible)
A couple of expressions, I actually had a bit of a hard time visualizing it (but this is a bit minor). Like the librarian leading them through the shelves into a "room". I originally thought the place is one big open space full of shelves and books that go from floor to ceiling since the founder could fly freely. And making sense of the list of books (I don't understand the No Text delineation).
I'm still clueless on what an orica is, I can only assume its some crystal ball like device that uses mana to do whatever its pre-programmed to do, though since the first one housed the analysis fairies, can't say for sure.
