Recommendation are a tricky thing - One shouldn't ever give true addvice unless they know you well ya know?😉.
That said general tips;
Alot of people don't read becuase school ruined it for them - I disliked Shakesphere for example becuase highschool classes on him were awful, as an adult I love his works becuase I listen and read them for fun - Even one I once disliked on school, is now some of my favourite stories of all time(King Lear 😍)
So first thing is pick something you actually like - If your an anime fan is there a light novel that you've always wanted to read?
Go for it - 'Course some translations are dodgy.
'Grimgar of fantasy and Ash' is a master piece with great prose and a good example of first person - So there's one thing if you're looking for anime books.
The re;Zero novels seem well translated from the couple spins offs I've read and 'World End, will you save us?' is pretty unique and a great read (animes pacing is wack af lol).
I hear 86 has a pretty good novel too but haven't read that yet (nor will I, fuck season2 lol)

Western wise the world is your oster - You can go for something classic like Lord of the Rings or pick a random Sherlock Holmes short story - Thought obviously the older the book, the less the style will match with the current, how much that matter to you is subjective👍.
Fun addvice is to get audible on your phone, they have audio books of all the greats and it's a great way to hear how a sentance is constructed rather then read😉😄.

Webnovel wise there's some great stuff on the site - Here's some links to stuff I'm reading at the moment that you might find fun😎😄;

Over on YouTube there's a collage lecture series by 'Brandon Sanderson' about Sci-fi and fantasy, completely free so that might also be of some help to you😄😎👍.

Most of all just pick genres that you like and books that seem fun - You'll start to pick up the nuaces in no time - I've heard it's possible not to, but generally if you love reading, it'll help alot with writing - Hope something there helps😊👍
