This is kind of dumb for me to say it, but I really think of this novel as a better version of Rent-a-Girlfriend.
First off, the main characters already have interesting personalities from the get-go, combine that with their open-minded conversations and you get an endless supply of comedic banter and wholesome to sussy interactions. Not only do you have a cute tanned chick, but you also get a boy who knows what he wants and can talk back with his own comments. So the power dynamic of the relationship is balanced.
Not only that, the side characters also have some rather wild personalities, which only adds more to the comedic aspect of the novel.
This novel also isn't afraid to delve deep into darker aspects of life, like suicide, nihilism, depression, etc. It's kind of like the philosophical aspect of the novel, which can really get you to think deeply. Despite such negativity, it still manages to maintain its wholesomeness and good vibes.
The only thing I can think of that's slightly off is that I get this feeling that it could have been wrapped up better, like some loose ends haven't been cut off to signify the end of a stage. But I'm satisfied with the lap pillow, hell yeah!
This novel has been, DeLightful. 😎
