If anyone is interested, this is the one that had been cut from the draft due to chapter length. However, if you feel you want to check any details that trimmed out, then check these out:
Director cut:
“Before we start, we should think about ourselves.” Sean Hammock started the conversation.
“I’m a center. I’m good at screening and I have confidence about anything in the paint. From post moves, layups, dunks, rebounding, box-outs, or even blocks. Just name it and I’ll make it happen.”
“Yo’! Name’s Carlos. I’m PG.” Carlos chimed in.
“Playmaking, ball handling, and shooting are my things. I can create some opportunities by making juicy passes to y’all or breaking free from a defender for a clean shot, or even close-quarter layups. Give me a sign and I’ll make a play for ya.”
Following Carlos, it’s Alex next.
“I’m Alex. I’m a Shooting Guard and shooting is my specialty. I’m making quick and accurate shots, even deep threes. Looking forward to receiving a ball from you all.”
I introduced myself as I didn’t want to be left behind.
“My name is Keith. I’m originally a Power Forward but I’ll play as a Small Forward here. I excel at drives and dunks. I’ll be in your care.”
“Wait!”
Sean suddenly interjected.
“Is that all you can do, Keith? Just drives and dunks?” He asked with a puzzled look.
“Well, I can do some screens, free throws, and layups, I guess? Maybe some passing, box-out, and rebounds as well.” I replied, unsure what was wrong with my answer.
“Ha-ah!” He facepalmed, shaking his head. “Ah okay, whatever, that would suffice for now.”
Wait, what’s wrong with drives and dunks? You get close to the ring, you dunk the ball in, that’s what a Forward should do, right? Shooting is primarily the Guards’ job and rebound is primarily the Center’s job. It’s not a Forward job.
As I was thinking, Sean faced Jamal and asked him.
“What about you, Jamal?”
“I’m a Power Forward. I excel at post moves, hooks, rebounding, box-outs, drawing contacts, free throws, layups, dunks, and making screens.”
As Jamal finished telling his expertise, Sean clapped his hands.
“Okay. As I heard about you guys, Carlos will be the cornerstone of our plays. For our defense, it’s the classic man-to-man defense, you know it.”
Sean looked in my direction as he speaks.
“For our offense, Keith, you will be on the lookout for any fastbreak potential, and any open lane to dunk in.”
He turned his face to Alex next.
“Alex, I need you to find open spots and pull the trigger quickly. Remember to rotate and keep moving.”
“Jamal” He looked to the afro guy. “You and I will go and fight near the ring. Try to find any kind of opening there.”
And last, it’s Carlos’s turn as Sean faces him.
“Carlos, you will lead the offense and make the calls. I’ll entrust this role to you.”
“I won’t let ya down, senior.”
Carlos ended his reply with a smile, which assures Sean a little.
“Okay, that’s all for our discussion, let’s get ready.”
