I’m so glad you got the hair cut importance! and yep I loved the idea of ikebana becoming how they had their “final” conversation, and also how Kaho communicated with her parents. I imagined it as she invited them, along with Shuhei, and told them she wanted them to understand how much she’d changed and grown. so her standing there comfortably engaging with people, having a friend in Sayane, and everything with Shuhei, shows just how far she’s come. it wasn’t a normal dialogue but I wanted that to be her final way of expressing just how different she is now. and it might seem traditional, but I did still want a moment alone between Shuhei and her parents, so the upcoming scene was important. it might be partially for drama, but I wrote it imagining that neither of them still knew if her parents would ever approve. so in some ways, this felt like it might be the end of their journey together, so their goodbye carried a lot of weight this time. thank you so much for reading!
