I find the shower or water scenes very interesting. Every time it comes up I feel as though something is going to burst out, whether it be a memory, trauma or other person. It’s such a peaceful intimate place but the details that are put into it give me the feeling of more building.

It was interesting seeing the hit about Xian’s past. About her losing her parents. There are similarities between them. And both seem to have a level of favouritism with the Madame. I can’t help but think again about the title. And how that may place into these similarities.

Hmm, I can’t help but begin to wonder about the story title in this chapter. Echoes. And the ways that the characters speak. The repeating of ‘reality’, ‘being real’, ‘be alive’, the mention in the previous chapter of the mist/fog and the trees and the mentioning of mist in the poem. Are these characters echoes of a life lost?

And then there’s the Madame. She seems to be kind, supportive but also distant. I can’t help but wonder her place in all of this!

You’re doing a great job of building suspense here. I really have no idea where this could be going but youve got me on the hook. I must know more!

This conflict between Farah and Xia is interesting. I mean, not conflict but both seem to be possessive over Yuna, which really adds that stressful feeling of the main character being ripped from side to side.

Then there’s that line Xia keeps repeating. To be alive. Be alive. And how the phrase affects Yuna and causes her to blur her eyes and lose touch with reality. I find that very telling. I can’t help but wonder if Yuna is dead. Or something of the sort. A spirit trapped between. And then there are the eyes. The yellow. Creepy!

And then there is the fact that this place is different. Not what it seems. Is this literal or figurative? What is it? I’m liking me theory of an asylum. We shall see!

What a crazy deep sequence! That was wild and definitely has me focusing on my previous statement of this girl sees things. Or at least knows something whether she wants to accept it or not.

Xi? Naomi? Which is it? This is a very creepy moment! I think you’re doing great with this story so far Mara, it’s definitely giving me some chills. I can’t help but wonder what is going on and every chapter just adds more questions and more discomfort! (In a good way)

Hmmm, this chapter makes me wonder if Yuna has something going on with her. Some sort of ability or curse or just a strangeness that makes her susceptible to things. Her focus on the eyes, the fear of being alone, jumping as at shadows. The way she brings up her mind, mentioning cars again…

Could it be a result of her tragic upbringing? Could it be more? This is giving me some crazy theories (like I see dead people theories) and I’m here for it. Curious to see what happens next.

Ooh, very creepy. I definitely find myself wondering what is going on in this school. Is there some dispute between Farah and Xiaolian? What’s going on with the scars? Who is good who is bad or which is worse!

There so much intrigue and tension and it’s hard to know who to trust. I have seen a theme of water being a safe space. A place for Yuna to wash away her anxieties and I can’t help put wonder if this will come into play later as a scary or tense moment. And then there is the smell. So much focus, makes me really curious!

You’ve done a great job with this chapter detailing things. You’ve made everything seem just the right amount of weird or off and spooky without it being too in the readers face. I can’t help but wonder what’s going to happen at night or what mysteries are buried under the floors of this school.

It seems like such a grim location, borderline haunted! Gives me the creeps! Excellent job!

This is a great start to the story Mara! You’ve given us just enough information to really tease a few potential things going forward. We’ve got a tragic backstory, a familiar location that is always new making it hard to feel comfortable, a rich and absent familial figure, lots of nameless individuals stoking even more anxiety…

I can already feel my heart beating faster wondering what is going to happen here. I can see the isolation in the main character building, from friends, family, and living arrangements. Being a psychological horror, this is great. It really starts strong with that feeling of loneliness and, in a way, a fear of what to do when someone (her Aunt) is there.

This is exciting!

Ooh, a deadline. I wonder if this will show the progression of time in this relationship or if it’s just a happenstance. Great addition regardless. It acted as a wonderful reason for Miyo to stand up for herself and use a little ‘hint hint poke poke. Let’s go drinking.’ Proud of her for taking Akios advice and going for it.

I love that pretty boy player is such a light weight. It’s absolutely hilarious! I wonder what’s going to happen next. She’s in quite the predicament and then once again needs to lean on her new friend!

I definitely think Akio is going to be good for Miyo. Without aggression he called her out and gave her some good advice. She was acting like a puppy shadowing her owner and if she wants to be noticed in a healthy relationship, there needs to be some give and take. I love the relationship developing here already and am rooting for these two (I mean, who’s this other guy really anyways?!)

I love the whole classroom mentality of ‘well the teacher isn’t here yet and 15 minutes has gone by so class must be cancelled’. That’s such a universal thought process that I even felt a few weeks ago at work when the boss was late letting us into the lab. So it’s great to see it here.

Can’t wait to see what Miyo learns from Akio!

I can’t help but feel bad for the main character. Of course, Miyo could have said things earlier but I think you’ve done a great job showing that she is shy and a nervous person. But now, she’s showing a little bit more of her true self. There is a little bit of obsession here woven into her hurt and I’m here for it. I want to see Miyo grow and develop as a character but also it sucks seeing her feel less than because of someone else.

It’s a great deal with a devil kind of moment, which I think you’ve handled well. And you’ve got great narrative pacing, really hooking me into wanting to read more! It’s also giving borderline Cyrano de Bergerac vibes. I wonder how this figure will help her gain her love?

Oooh, okay so it’s more of a ‘I’ll help you’ scenario. I can’t help but wonder if over the course of the story these two I’ll fall in love. He was obviously sorry for his attitude meaning he isn’t short tempered. Just overworked.

I have theories about the current love interest. Wondering about this players deal and I have my suspicions. The call from the previous chapter and his absence here just sends ick vibes. But we shall see.

We’ve got our three characters though and I think you’ve done a great job at bringing them together. It’s a very fluid start, and I’m really liking it! The transitions are smooth and the story flows very nicely. Great job kcayu!

Great first chapter Kcayu! You’ve done a great job starting us in the middle of the story. No reason to watch Miyo fall in love, we know she is with Shinichi. But you immediately threw us into conflict!

Where is the letter. Where did it go? My immediate thoughts are that it ended up with the other guys stack of papers. The question is, did she put her crush’s name on it? Or will this lead to a work place love triangle.

You’ve also done well to display these characters in such a way that we’ve already gotten a good understanding on their personalities (or at least appear to). Miyo is a nervous romantic. Shinichi seems to be a suave player. Meanwhile, blonde dude is a short tempered overworked salaryman.

Can’t wait to see where this goes!

Very interesting! I love that you’re building this moment up for the characters to all be in the same club. It’s a great place for romance to blossom and could lead to some great scenes alone while working on this game. I can’t help but wonder what game they’d want to make. I mean the open world baseball game sounds hilarious and interesting, lol.

And it’s a cool thing to see a character with a familial relation at the school that isn’t a parent. It’s a refreshing thing to see and allows for his defiant attitude to be a bit more acceptable in some situations in comparison to others. Really adding that humour.

So much thought needs to be put into clubs on the first day. Yeek! Stressful!

Smart move having a chapter dedicated to introductions. It gave the reader a nice appetizer into these characters personalities and added to what we had already seen as likes and dislikes. I adjust my previous statement, Yanagi isn’t just the hottie. He’s the jock too. His and Kurumas relationship is giving me Nagi/Reo vibes from BlueLock and I’m here for it! And Shiori is such a freak (in a good way) and I love it.

I look forward to seeing how these relationships change and evolve over the story. Fantastic job so far Sakura!
