This scene is super oddly-coded.
For one, the logistics are all over the place. Imagine if my father rang me in the dead of night to just tell me not to hang around some bird. I'd just tell him to piss off and go to bed.
Second, what is this conversation even about? Did we really need another villainous presence, another brick on the authoritarian code, another obstacle to overcome in the face of love? Like, sure, the story works fine for this set up and the father becoming a stone-cold bitch is an all right move, but with Ueno being a twat, Ishida being hated for no reason, Takuya being a twat as well, Izumi's parents not liking him because he was born with a dick, I feel like we're just dipping into excess.
Obviously this is well into the story taking a dramatic turn, as evidenced by the absolutely insane character flips, but can't my guy Ishii just get *someone* to support him. Man's already so emotionally stunted you need to dig out feelings out of him with an industrial drill, is there no adult who can just go: 'yeah, so things kinda suck, why not fuck that cute girl who likes you and stop being such a ninny'.
