Thank you for the incredibly kind words. Perhaps it's because authors are always their own harshest critics, but I feel my writing still has a long way to go. I find my prose repetitive and simple. In contrast, what I've read of Hotwired! left me feeling, "I wish my writing flowed this well." The description of Raine's act in the first chapter was especially impressive.
Part of it, of course, is the pressure and deadline of the contest. I spent more time on the first few chapters, so of course they're going to be better-written. And trying to fit everything into ~1500 words per chapter is still a challenge for me. Outside the contest, I tend to average 2500-3000 words for a chapter.
Some chapters end up decent; others feel rushed. I guess that's life. I'll keep trying to improve, but thank you again for the encouragement.
