This seemed a little... I don't know.
It felt forced, for lack of a better word. The MC seemed to be crass and insensitive at various points, like how one would communicate with a best friend.
But then, he begins expressing his doubts and worries about the friendship being as it was before. This feels out of place. I would think that if he was having those doubts, that he would not have said such insensitive things that he did. It just didn't feel real to me, nor did it feel like Saeko was particularly broken up about the loss of her partner and having to be a single mother. It felt like those were details put into the story for this specific setup of the MC returning to his soon-to-be-single-mother crush, and not how an actual person in Saeko's circumstances would realistically act.
