Author's Commentary #287:
Time to talk about Chapter 287: The Jadwiga gambit.
If anyone thought Jadwiga's suffering was over, you were wrong. Now she has PTSD and will forever be associated with this horrible opening. Though I'm sure you can already predict it, I'll say it anyway; if this ever gets a video game adaptation, you would be able to play the Jadwiga gambit against her which would cause her to play like a 100-elo player, and best of all, she'd always refuse to capture your queen and blunder into mate quickly.
Originally, I planned to have Jadwiga fall in love with Okisato, much to his dismay and develop a masochistic persona. But I decided against it, opting instead to have her remain haughty and arrogant. I feel it better suits her character and makes her stand out more, though obviously this humiliation will have an effect on her. Though I will confirm she will pretty much act the same. Though if Poland lose the match, she'll be going bald as punishment.
Speaking of the match, things are briefly going to hop over to the men's side before returning to the women's. Unlike the previous two rounds, the women will finish their round 3 match before the men. This is mainly because the Okisato vs Diederich fight is the marquee match-up of the round.
While the men were always set to play Prussia, I was actually unsure of who to have the women play. Poland was the original pick, but I wasn't sure what to do with them, until I managed to get that game you saw between Okisato and Jadwiga. That game helped me decide what to do with Poland. And speaking of which, let's do the bios for the rest of the Polish team.

Her birthday is April 26th, which she shares with Polish international master, Oliwia Kiołbasa.
Her favorite piece is the queen, as it's both the moth powerful piece on the board, and representative of Jadwiga.
Wiesława and Maria are both the daughters of Poland's president, who is from a rival faction from Jadwiga's father, the prime minister. Even though Jadwiga is ideologically different from her father, she also despises the Polish president as well. This tends to put her at odds with the Wykształciuchys.
However, Wiesława can make sound judgement calls and analyze things without bias. And as just shown, her teammates should have listened to her as now Jadwiga will have a major weakness for the rest of the story.
