Miu was never a monster. I never wanted her to devolve into someone who simply destroyed everything because she was hurt. if she and Yuki became that, in some ways that would be the world winning. they may have wanted it on occasion. they may have struggled to find hope or goodness. but in the end, they held on to their goodness, even in acts of destruction. Yuki freed the GAKI and punished Ripley. Miu rewrote much of existence. but it was to give those that came afterwards a chance. I truly loved Miu’s final lines of her last poem:
“Light refused to leave. Let no one else know sorrow… The way we knew it…”
everything in the end is about that. they destroyed the world as it was, but they did not destroy everything. all those regular, good and decent people who showed even hints of kindness, they were worth saving. our beautiful lost children. maybe they’ll find each other again in the next life.
