i really love how in one way they are shaped by their life experience. But, on the other hand, they are both innocent and inexperienced when it comes to their feelings about each other. this is a great contrast and shows the good, wellrounded character development that I a m used to in your stories.

This chapter told more about our characters than all the others combined. I am excited for them. Both are leaving the bad behind and heading into the unknown on many levels.

Gerda and Kaya are so different from each other. They come from different worlds, so I can see why they were not friends. Makes me wonder how they ended up together. I pictured Gerda having a bad girl reputation around school. Kaya probably approached because of some rumor she heard. probably had another friend dating her to do it. Also, I get the feeling this is going to be a hell of a joy ride.

I can see how you could be confused. Magic exists. Everyone knows it exists, but few can use it directly. Most develop their abilities early in life, and they are educated in how it works on that level from a young age. Others get a very basic education in magic, sort of like the level of high school science. If you pay attention you may learn something, but many don’t. Raven is just getting her ability late. This is complicated by the fact that there are different schools of magic. The Japanese version is based on order and patterns. it is very structured. Raven’s is not shamanistic in nature.

I will definitely look into for the rewrite. The idea is it does exist, and has since before the First World War. However very limited few can use it in its raw form. Most are using devices powered by it without giving it a thought.
