To be honest, my early impressions of the story was that it was going to be another cheesy, half-baked, Hallmark romance. A woman goes to a place she doesn’t really want to go and falls in love. Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with stories like that. In fact, they are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Then things turned dark, really dark. As the mystery began to unravel, It was clear that nothing was as it appeared. Julian is not what he appears to be. There is more to the story than he has told. She was right to want to leave. The end of this chapter shows the beginning of the “romance.” I wish I could root for Ava. I wish this was the romance we all wanted to happen. I just hope she survives the experience. Please don’t hurt her too bad.

Ok. I officially do not like either side of this war. I am not sure what the machines are fighting for. It can’t be freedom, independence, or autonomy. This is clear in the way they treat their own, reprogramming her that way. The humans went in there with their own objectives. I may be getting it wrong, but everything feels like they are playing both sides. It is almost like this is not a machine versus human scenario, but a joint operation against the people. To what end though? Oh, and don’t get me started on what I think of Kiyoshi.
