Oof, that pesky magic sure is messing with his systems. And while his conflicting and emerging emotions are fun to watch -- I really loved that Ylfa got a chance to shine and save the day. But it's a good thing he heals quickly.

Also; characters riding other characters in their animal form is a favorite trope of mine. It's just so cute and intimate. Go Ylfa! 🥰

Aww, this was so cute. And they're definitely expanding the Empire, gathering new citizens by adoption (rather than force). At least the elf children are very happy with their new protectors; they seem to have had a really rough time lately. Now I'm curious to see what the main threat is, except for the monsters we've already seen.

Intriguing start, and I really enjoy this take on an isekai. 💜

And both the efficiency and the kindness carry on. Nice. Great idea that he carries what is his 'sacred house' with him as long as he has the figurines of his household gods -- and that the gods can help with communication. I think that if they manage to successfully heal Cook, they'll gain a lot of trust from all the elves. And be well on their way of expanding the Empire. ;)

The Romans sure are efficient, and I think they'll have good use of their (superior) horses here. Their camp as well as their interrogation of the monster -- and their treatment of their 'captive' -- was very neat and well-executed. They're clearly soldiers, but also kind.

The mutual language lesson was pretty charming, and Barbara was clever to pick up so much, especially while wounded and in pain. I wonder where she's taking them...

Barbara? LoL It makes sense though. Like the 'onna' scene in Shogun. Well, no matter her name, I really enjoyed her POV in this chapter, both the vivid falling sequence and her puzzlement with the humans.

I'm really looking forward to seeing them attempt some more sincere communication. This feels like a very natural and realistic start. And, no guys -- you're most definitely not in Greece...

Hah, romans vs monsters 1-0. I guess those Roman war tactics come in real handy when you're suddenly in a new land, attacked by monsters. Love that you have them speaking in Latin, should bring some funny language barrier problems later on. For now at least, it seems our little Scout is pretty impressed with them.

I believe someone is developing a huge fondness for flying. And as for the logistics -- I had thought she'd be clinging to him koala-style, so she should not complain about his suggestion. It's much more dignified. LoL

And, I hope it's not one of Ylfa's old friends they're about to take out. :(

Heheh, his 'abnormal' heart rate fluctuations are going to be interesting to follow. I'm sure he'll catch on eventually. Also, I loved their little shopping spree.

Mini-Ylfa! So cute.

Curious to find out more about the split (betrayal?) between the human and demon races. And, I think Ylfa can relax a bit -- it's not as if Jere NEEDS her help when it comes to killing demons. But she'll be helpful in a lot of other ways. 💜

Yes! The meet-cute! Love how they're both so puzzled by each other. Or, at least as puzzled as Jere can be. There are definitely some sparks of both curiosity as well as rebellion/disobedience starting to show. At least he's willing to bend the rules a bit.

Hmmm, I do believe there's more behind this war than meets the eye... (Evil demons attacking humans for fun/food/whatever...) I hope he will ask for more information at some point, even if he's satisfied with following orders, I'm curious. ;)
