Yes, it does. It’s partly a consequence of cutting down from 50k planned words to meet the contest deadline.

Are robot ladies actually impressed by pies?

That would be extremely sci-fi, wouldn't it?

Learning you can dodge bullets may make you feel a bit invincible, and that can lead to overconfidence.

Thanks! I thought about going Batman, but I felt it would be unrealistic for trained and hardened veteran soldiers to be taken by something like that.

From the tea. If Oliver hadn't gulped it down all at once to make a point, it would have gotten all of them.
That's exactly what I was going for. Thanks for checking it out!

There’s been a lot of robot lovin’ in this contest, and unsurprisingly, I am here for it.

Same. I think I said it in another comment, but in many ways, Sprout was me when I was younger and stuck out in the sticks.
Location descriptions are definitely a weak point of mine. I've been trying to keep them a bit minimal, to fit with the shot chapter word counts, but I can't blame it all on that. The biggest challenge of writing is translating the vivid images in your brain into words that others can understand in a way they find entertaining.
I do wonder if I should be more repetitive about some descriptions though. Others have said they had a hard time imagining the village, even though I described it as a large domed area with mostly farming fields and little huts housing nekomimi and machines.
