This. This is the chapter. This is the chapter that cuts the closest to Lucille's whole deal so far, even if I disagree with her about the metric system.

I once blogged about having similar feelings the first time I watched Akira. The title of the post was "Nuclear Angst and Self-Absorbed Anime Fandom", and it was, ironically, a very self-absorbed post itself, but when you think of things like that, you can't help but try to make it relate back to yourself. It's too large to comprehend through any other lens, and that's exactly what Lucille does in this chapter.
I had no idea about the "This Car Climbed Mount Washington" bumper stickers, so I looked it up, and the Mt. Washington Auto Road is probably the most depressingly American thing I have ever read about.
