Author's Commentary #800:
Time to talk about Chapter 800: Moms at the beach.
It really did feel like a long time between this and the 700th chapter, but regardless of how long it felt, another 100 chapters have now flown by. Unlike with some of the other ones, this one I didn't know what to do for until only a few weeks before.
Realizing that if I kept to my daily upload schedule that this chapter would release on Mother's Day, I decided that the moms of the series would get a focus. Thus, it was back to the beach, except this time, in the past. This allowed us to get a glimpse at not just moms we know like Daria and Hagemi, but also Kana and a tease of Iori's mom. We also get to see younger versions of the main cast too.
As for the game, this was by far the most difficult thing to write about this chapter, mainly because I'm a bit tired out from writing games. That being said, the game itself is really good, especially the ending sequence with the castling. That's honestly why I'm glad I had the game be a Chess 960 one as depending on the position, you can get some amazing castles.
Finally, thank you all for your support. We've reached yet another milestone, and this time, I think this novel is one of only 2 novels ever on this site to have 800 chapters or more. I know this most recent season was rough, largely due to the contest, but now, fittingly, said contest is ending on the very day this chapter is releasing. Naturally, all my entries were complete long before, but it still feels poetic in a sense. Thank you once again for all your support. Here's to another 800 chapters of En Passant Grandmaster.
