Author's Commentary #60:
Time to talk about Chapter 60: Mimi's family.
In the original, this chapter took place right after the Col Masaru's one. I wanted that to happen in the remake as well, but the word maximum for the contest wouldn't allow that so I had this arc start off season 2. Now that Harumi and Madoka have made their proper debuts, let's talk about them.
First up, the Escape Witch herself, Madoka Ginkawa. In kanji, her name is spelled 銀川 窓嘉 (Ginkawa Madoka). 銀川 means "silver river" while 窓嘉 means "window" and "excellent" as well as "opening in the wall".
Her birthday is March 24th which she actually shares with magician, Harry Houdini.
Her favorite food is crepes. She also likes sweets in general. As for how much she loves crepes, you'll find out soon.
銀川 花瑠美 (Ginkawa Harumi) is how Harumi's name is written in kanji. 花瑠美 means "flower", "lapis lazuli", and "beautiful".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations feel free to correct me).
Her birthday is July 11th which is also the day the first chapter of the original Escape Witch was released.
Her favorite food is melon pan with vanilla ice cream.
Both characters are from Escape Witch with Madoka being the main heroine of said novel. This novel will offer a look at what Madoka was like when she was younger. In fact, she might just have the most screen time out of all the side characters not working at Ryokoma in this series.
As for Mimi, she'll now be recognized as an official Ginkawa family member. This means she'll be changing her surname to Ginkawa and getting new proper ID as well as living in the Ginkawa mansion.
Speaking of which, the Ginkawa mansion is located across the bay from Ryokoma. It's so close, the Ginkawas could travel to and from by boat if they choose.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
