Author's Commentary #32:
Time to talk about Chapter 32: Hailstorm Part 2.
When Serika mentioned she wasn't great at speaking English, this is was she meant. While she is clearly fluent, the only way she knows how to speak English is the way Ruchi taught her. Thus, she tries to avoid speaking English since doing so forces her to act similar to Ruchi.
One thing I do want to talk about is Yuni's role in the arc. In the original, her role in this arc was by far the weakest. The original intent was to have her get trapped in the salon again, but escape on her own, however, I felt that plot-point detracted from the arc. Thus, I ended up rewriting her role in this arc for the remake. As for Kasumi, she was originally included in order to set her up as a long-term antagonist. While her role and screen time in season 1 of the remake will be drastically reduced, I felt she needed to be included in the story. I'll talk a bit more about her in a future commentary. For now, I'll go over her bio.
二川 一美 (Futagawa Kasumi) is how her name is written in kanji. 一美 means "one" and "beautiful".
Her birthday is March 3rd which she also shares with her sisters, Nika and Miku. Speaking of which, I might as well give their bios too.
二川 二花 (Futagawa Nika) is how Nika's name is written in kanji. 二花 means "two" and flower".
二川 三久 (Futagawa Miku) is how Miku's name is spelled in kanji. 三久 means "three" and "ancient".
As a bonus, I'll also give the bios for Sayuri, Carl, and their henchmen starting with Carl.
カール・マクドナルド (Carl McDonald) is how his name would be written in katakana.
His birthday is March 20th which is also the day KFC was founded.
ジミー・サンダース (Jimmy Sanders) is how Jimmy's name would be written in katakana.
His birthday is January 13th which is also the day Jimmy Johns was founded.
守部 直人 (Moribe Naoto) is how Moribe's name is spelled in kanji. 直人 means "direct" and "human" while 守部 means "obey" and "group".
His birthday is July 3rd. I chose the date at random so there's no significance behind why I chose that date to be his birthday.
戸亀 兎稀 (Togame Toki) is how Toki's name is spelled in kanji. 兎稀 means "rabbit" and "rare" while 戸亀 means "door" and "turtle"
His birthday is February 26th. The reason for this is because The tortoise and the hare is numbered 226 in the Perry index.
紅瀬 咲結莉 (Benise Sayuri) is how Sayuri's name is written in kanji. 咲結莉 means "to bloom", "knot", and "jasmine" while 紅瀬 means "crimson" and "rapids".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to me).
Her birthday is December 28th. I chose the date at random so there's no significance behind why I chose that date to be her birthday.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
