    Author's Commentary #54:

Time to talk about Chapter 54: Staying by your side.
This fight was what I decided to initially end the original series with before deciding to post the bonus chapters. As mentioned before, this story arc was a remake original and simply imported to the original. As for the Hasselhan team, Gracie and Pete are dead while Sidney is likely going to be killed by whomever commissioned Izuhana to take them down. Speaking of Pete, let's briefly go over his bio.

ピート・ワーシントン (Pete Worthington) is how his name is spelled in katakana. He's the long-range sniper of the team and tends to always hide out far away while the Hasselhan sisters take more of a mid-range to close-range position when going after a target.

His birthday is March 6th. I chose this date at random so there's no real significance for why I chose this date to be his birthday.

His favorite food is maraschino cherries. Though he can't rerorerorero like Kakyoin very well nor can he tie cherry stems with his tongue like the characters from Kaguya-sama.

As for Detective Yuzume, I will confirm that she is the same Reika Yuzume from Escape Witch. In the original, she was actually introduced shortly after Yuugen made his debut. Here however, I decided to have her debut much later. I originally did want to have her properly converse with Rika during season 1, but was unable to due to the contest's maximum word count. As such, she'll properly meet Rika in Season 2 of the remake.

Speaking of which, there are no only a few more chapters left of Season 1. Even though these past few chapters featured an intense battle, there's still one more big clash before Season 1 ends. I hope you look forward to it.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Author's Commentary #52:

Time to talk about Chapter 52: Talent scouting.
Once again, events in the remake are being shuffled around. This time, I've decided to include the chapter for minor characters, Onrai and Maju in Season 1. The reason will be made much more clear when the Season 1 finale rolls around which won't be very long. Anyway, let's talk about Onrai and Maju.

道萱 恩來 (Michigaya Onrai) is how Onrai's name is spelled in kanji. 恩來 means "compassion" and "to come" while 道萱 means "road" and "reed".

His birthday is February 3rd, which is also to day the first chapter of Sentai Daishikaku was released. The reason for that is because Onrai was heavily inspired by the character Chidori from said series.

His favorite food is spaghetti and meatballs.

道萱 舞雛 (Michigaya Maju) is how Maju's name is spelled in kanji. 舞雛 means "dance" and "fledgling".

As for her stage-name, 幻 魔法 (Mahoro Maho) is how it is spelled in kani. 幻 means "illusion" while 魔法 means "magic" so her stage-name essentially means "illusion magic".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to correct me).

Her birthday is March 23rd which is Near miss day. While the point of the day is to celebrate the fact that a massive asteroid missed hitting Earth, there is double meaning for Maju since the birthday is a day before Harry Houdini's birthday, thus she missed being born on that day by a single day. Funnily enough, Maju was set to head towards an astronomy career which she didn't truly want, but felt she had no choice but to accept. However, after encountering a street magician and realizing the complexity of the tricks, she decided to pursue a career as a magician and used her scientific know-how to concoct some extraordinary tricks. She had always been fascinated by magic, but never thought to pursue a career in the field until that encounter. She is a bit self-conscious that she's not the greatest, but simply hopes to at least not have the audience guess the secret to her signature tricks.

Her favorite food is soft serve ice cream with sprinkles.

Maju wasn't necessarily based off a specific character, but rather the typical anime female mage archetype. Both her and Onrai were primarily created to serve as performers for the restaurant. Rika originally had the base restaurant built with lots of amenities like the stage in order to have live performances in the future. Since the restaurant's third month anniversary is approaching, Rika decided it was time to start getting live performances in order to greater enhance the Ryokoma experience.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Author's Commentary #47:

Time to talk about Chapter 47: Rika's little sisters.
One major change from the original is that Matcha ends up getting kidnapped by Hasue and Muku alongside Wakaha. The reason I did this was so that it would make more sense for Waki to go after the twins with Rika. Speaking of the twins, it's time to give their bios. Muku's introduction was why I've been holding off on doing Hasue's bio, even though she made her debut way back in Chapter 24.

ころせかい 芙栄 (Korosekai Hasue) is how Hasue's name is spelled in Japanese. 芙栄 means "lotus" and "to flourish".

ころせかい 夢紅 (Korosekai Muku) is how Muku's name is spelled in Japanese. 夢紅 means "dream" and "crimson".

The twin's birthday is April 2nd.

Hasue's favorite food is poached eggs, while Muku's favorite food is hard boiled eggs drenched in hot sauce.

As for Wakaha, she's actually a very interesting character. Unlike all the other characters, she' the only one in Spice of life to originate from my novel, Wind sniper 0. Wind sniper is honestly not one of my favorite nor best works. Nonetheless, I felt Wakaha deserved to have some spotlight here in Spice of life due to her being Waki's sister.

加勢川 稚葉 (Kasegawa Wakaha) is how Wakaha's name is spelled in kanji. 稚葉 means "young" and "leaf".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to correct me).

Her birthday is August 28th. I chose this date because it is one day before the last chapter of Wind sniper was released. Funnily enough, she ends up with a mohawk by the end of the series.

Like Waki, her favorite food is tonkatsu. She's actually the one that taught Waki the basics of cooking.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Author's Commentary #46:

Time to talk about Chapter 46: Col Masaru's fried chicken.
With a title like that, you can probably guess why I decided to keep this chapter in my contest entry version. An obvious KFC parody, Col Masaru's fired chicken is not only a new hit at Ryokoma, but it is also the favorite meal of Yuni, who is not only the twintailed girl in this chapter, but also one of the main protagonists of Escape Witch. While Yuni herself doesn't have a major role in the story, she is a recurring character. Speaking of which, I might as well give bios on her and her family.

二川 優似 (Futagawa Yuni) is how her name is spelled in kanji. 二川 means "two rivers" while 優似 means "skilled" and "resembling".

    Her birthday is February 1st.

Her favorite food is Col Masaru's fried chicken. Fried chicken in general is her favorite food, however, Col Masaru's is easily her favorite fried chicken.

As for the triplets, their names are Kasumi, Nika, and Miku. 二川 一美 (Futagawa Kasumi) is how her name is written in kanji. 一美 means "one" and "beautiful".
二川 二花 (Futagawa Nika) is how Nika's name is written in kanji. 二花 means "two" and flower". 二川 三久 (Futagawa Miku) is how Miku's name is spelled in kanji. 三久 means "three" and "ancient".

Their birthday is March 3rd and their favorite food is strudel cake.

二川 ハワード (Futagawa Howard) is how Howard's name is written in Japanese. He's half American, and half Japanese and works at a large architectural company in America.

His birthday is December 25th which is also Christmas day.

    His favorite food is gumbo.

二川 一心 (Futagawa Hitomi) is how Hitomi's name is written in kanji. 一心 means "one" and "heart".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to correct me).

Her birthday is February 2nd which she also shares with her twin sister.

Her favorite food is egg rolls.

Speaking of Escape Witch, the other main characters in the series will also be appearing in this story. Yuni's the only one that will appear in Season 1 though.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
