Author's Commentary #192:
Time to talk about Chapter 192: Mizuse Kinjou.
This marks the start of Side Story 3, however instead of taking place in the present, it takes place in the past and focuses on SPCM Himitsusama, aka Mizuse Niimi.
Some of you might have noticed I've redesigned Mizuse a bit. That's because I'm considering rewriting her character a bit, and introducing her a bit earlier in the story. As such, she's fresh on the mind, so I decided it was time to flesh out her backstory.
The first notable thing is that her original surname was Kinjou. 金正 is how it was spelled in kanji and means "gold" and "correct".
(If I made any mistakes with the translations, feel free to correct me).
She was the only child of a wealthy businessman, however, said man wanted a son to inherit the business, thus he was desperate to marry Mizuse off before he passed. He failed to do so however which led to all his assets and company being inherited by Mizuse. Mizuse didn't think highly of him though and is currently seeking to run his company to the ground as a middle finger to his legacy.
The chess game was meant to symbolize how Mizuse is wasting what she has, which will ultimately come back to bite her. Just like she has money in the bank, she had pieces in the corner, but they did little to help her king after she sacrificed the other pieces which symbolize the company. As the story unfolds, you'll see how Mizuse goes from a morose heiress into one of the most successful women in the world, and I guarantee, it will make you hate Michiko even more. In fact, I think I might end up raising her a few spots on my next top 10 most hated characters list once this Side Story is over. I hope you look forward to reading this.
