Author's Commentary #386:
Time to talk about Chapter 386: Discussing DSPCMs after all.
Originally, this chapter was much shorter, but I decided to make a last minute edit shortly after posting the chapter, resulting in it's length doubling. This also means some new characters have now debuted in the story where as they didn't in the original release. Speaking of which, I made a small edit to Chapter 377: The SPCMs competing in the tournament, in which I added two new French SPCMs to the line-up. One is an unnamed creepy mime who will be further discussed in detail later in the story. The other is a man named Alouette Baguette. Let's talk more about him and the other new characters.
アルエット・バゲット (Alouette Baguette) is how Alouette's name would be spelled in katakana.
His birthday is October 27th, which he shares with English actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and presenter, John Cleese.
His favorite piece is the rook, since he likes to taunt people from atop a tall tower.
Alouette might be new to EPGM, but he's actually already existed in some of my novels as the infamous "fake" Frenchman from The Yowie Hunt series. Now that he has artwork of him, it's easy to see that his design is heavily inspired by the Spy's from Team Fortress 2, along with some bits of his personality. He is mainly a homage to the French taunter from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He can also turn into a werewolf and knows how to play the electric guitar.
ヤロスワフ・アブガロヴィチ (Jarosław Abgarowicz) is how Jarosław's name would be spelled in katakana.
His birthday is June 9th, which he shares with Polish grandmaster, Igor Janik.
His favorite piece is the king because that's what he sees himself as.
Jarosław is a character I've been meaning to introduce ever since the end of round 3, however, I've never gotten the chance to yet. I do hope to do so eventually as I feel he does need to have a confrontation with Okisato. One reason I believe this might be happening is the fact that Jarosław is only fluent in Polish, meaning all his dialogue will be in Polish. That means more work for me on the writing side. Though I definitely want him and Okisato to clash at some point in this arc.
ザヴェリ・ヴィクスタウチュチ (Xawery Wykształciuchy) is how Xawery's name would be spelled in katakana.
His birthday is April 26th, which he shares with Polish grandmaster, Jan-Krzysztof Duda.
His favorite piece is the king because he himself is Poland's president.
Xawery doesn't really have much of note about him. While he was one of the first few members of the Polish men's team created, he's clearly second fiddle to Jarosław. Though maybe by the time he properly shows up, I'll have a personality all set for him.
The only final thing of note to mention is that now it's better hinted at what Gorona's so worried about being brought up in the interview. I'll also confirm that the person Nikolina was zeroing in on has not yet debuted in the story, though there is a high chance said person could appear as early as next chapter.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
