Thank you so much for reading this all the way through. In regards to the Ararat arc, I was going back and forth on it a bunch, but felt that it definitely wouldn't work before for a few reasons. First, by nature, it feels like a "one final present" type of deal before the adventure ends, not to mention, the key to why things went so well was Ami getting inspired by Aya.
That said, I then debated not including it, but also felt like not including it would have left open some plot points, namely Ararat province. That, and the captain actually gets expanded upon. Thus, I kept it in.
Still, I welcome the critique as even I feel it is the weakest arc, but I also feel that if I didn't include it, things would have felt a bit more lacking. Once again, thanks so much for reading this and commenting, and especially for all the grammar errors you caught. I'm glad you enjoyed the story so much.
