    [Game log #28]

Here's the games Peter played against Utami and Okisato featured in Chapter 51. While both games are referred to Důras Gambits, the game between Okisato and Peter is technically a Dutch Defense: Fianchetto Attack, while the Peter vs Utami game is more of a pure Důras Gambit. As for Peter's big rating jump, it happened thanks to him beating Maestro Xiao Lin and also makes him the #2 rated player in this universe not counting maestros.

Surprise! Turns out there was one more team yet to be revealed, the nation of Finland. For obvious reasons, I decided to hold off on adding them to the team post back in Chapter 259, but since they've been revealed, I'll repost the links to all the team artwork with Finland factored into the average rating list. This is the true team master list for the women's side.

Women's teams ordered by average rating:

    Chapter:493

    Jul 07, 2025

    Author's Commentary #493:

Time to talk about Chapter 493: Deep Blue.
Finally, I can talk more in depth on so many of the plot points I've been sitting on. Everyone, meet Deep Blue, the second major antagonistic faction to grace the series, third if we count the Fairies, but they're not as big a threat as the Desperados or Deep Blue. As stated before when Deep Blue was first hinted at and within the chapter itself, Deep Blue takes it's name from the supercomputer that famously beat then-world champion, Garry Kasparov, in a chess match.

This Deep Blue also has a computer affinity as 99% of it's members based in it's home nation of Finland are digitized and can only regain physical forms through either possessing someone and using them as a conduit, or getting a special battery pack. The conduit thing is like how the edo tensei from Naruto works, except they can ditch the corpse after a little bit and not only retain their digital power but also have a proper physical form. Of course, the ones used as conduits die, and brutally too.

This was probably the big reason I ended up procrastinating with 6B because choosing which characters would die is a pretty big deal. Lorna, Trudy, Ye-bin, and Ju-hye were planned from the start to die, but the others were last-second decisions. For the longest time, I was planning on having Alya and Olga die, mainly for shock value, but with how little development Alya got coupled with how I'd have to asspull to make her and Olga lose made me decide to have them not participate in 6B at all.

Laura and Isabella were another pair I considered, though I decided to go against it. The main reason for this was that like Alya, I was mainly going to kill her for shock value, but would have been able to justify her loss due to Isabella being corrupted and throwing games intentionally. What made me go against it though was because I wanted to do more with Laura's character. Though in a video game adaptation, they would die if you failed to complete certain missions while team Tanzania wouldn't even show up unless you fulfilled the requirements to save Laura.

Speaking of Tanzania, they were a pure last-second choice. What ultimately made me go with them was the story value and arcs their teammates could go through as a result of this. Linet wasn't exactly very developed, but Aisha was a DSPCM, and a core component of team Tanzania's story.

Bulgaria I had toyed around with for a bit, but went back and forth on. Obviously I seemed to have settled on that, though I will confirm Radina will appear in flashback chapters. I'll also likely do a side story on her too, so look forward to that.

Now that Deep Blue is here, they are serving as the 9th round opponents for both Japanese teams as Finland. It is worth noting that there is no control over who is able to gain freedom to have a physical body again, which can lead to some non-Olavi loyalists getting out. A majority of the Fins here are anti-Olavi, though not all of them such as Flavio and Irja. Speaking of which, both Olavi and Irja gained their physical bodies back early on, though mainly because they didn't subject themselves to the exact same experiment they subjected the Finnish populace to.

As for the game, this one's a really short one, but I promise this next game between Okisato and Flavio will be amazing. In fact, that's the very game I've mentioned that I had lots of fun writing.

The only final thing to note is that now that Deep Blue has been revealed, I can finally upload the team art of Finland's women's team that I've been sitting on for months. All this time, I've been including the Finnish teams in my counts, yet been holding off on revealing them until now. Thus, the final team counts will be 74 for the women and 36 for the men for a nice even total of 110 teams. And with 5 members per team, that's 550 characters to juggle, not to mention all the other characters already created. And I'm still creating new characters for this upcoming arc.

Speaking of which, Season 7 is almost done. Now I've just got 8 chapters to write before I can edit everything into place. This means that the events being uploaded now for round 9 will happen in earlier chapters. Don't worry, I'll post the proper rearrangement guide once everything's uploaded. That also means the skip guide for Pre 6B won't be necessary. But as a plus, the season will end weeks sooner, and we'll be able to get into the next arc of the series.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

    Chapter:493

    Jul 06, 2025

The binge has come to an end. Now for the review before sleep deprivation truly kicks in. The highlights were easily the side cast of Lev and his bunch and Caiomhe even though all he really did was barf and try to give out money to Reem for pronouncing his name right. I guess if you want a gripe, he should have had some more screentime. Now for this next segment, allow me to invoke a meme; If I had a nickel for every time lolitroy wrote two novels for a contest and I ended up becoming more enamored with the one that didn't get finished, I'd have two nickels. This is naturally some light humor, but it does Segway into a huge elephant in the room, that being End of Service was Announced.

Even though it's only 7 chapters, I feel End of Service is easily the best story you've ever put out. I enjoyed every chapter of it, but I understand that sometimes an author decides not to continue a series for a multitude of reasons. The reason I bring End of service up is because when I first decided to finally binge this story, I was wondering how good it was to take priority over it. Perhaps that mentality raised my expectations for this a bit too much, but thankfully, I still found this work enjoyable. Comparing this to Robot Catgirls, I feel Robot Catgirls beats it out. While I feel the final chapters of this story were more enjoyable to me than the ones of Robot Catgirls, overall, Isa Rock arc just can't be topped, and I didn't really find any arcs similar to it that stood out to me like it. That being said, I had no issues with the story. Reen and Shionn are no Stella and Shigure, but their antics and interactions were pretty enjoyable. I do feel Lev was a real standout character and probably my favorite. But on my tier list of my favorite lolitroy characters, he's still a tier below Lucine and Isa Rock. As for the final verdict, on the standard of just grading this novel for what it is, I'd say it's a solid 4/4.5 out of 5. I can definitely see the potential for more worldbuilding in a sequel, so if you ever decide to continue this series, I'll definitely read it. And of course, congratulations on finishing this.

    Jul 06, 2025

    Author's Commentary #364:

Time to talk about Chapter 364: Team Antarctic-Å vs team Ire-Arm.
My crusade to introduce as many of the teams before the second rest day is going well. Of course, that makes writing these commentaries all the more tiring. So without further ado, let's begin.

ビパシャ・クマラゲ博士 (Dr. Bipasha Kumarage) is how Bipasha's name would be spelled in Japanese. डॉ. बिपाशा कुमारगे (Dr. Bipasha Kumarage) is how her name would be written in Sanskrit.

Her birthday is September 17th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the queen.

Bipasha originally hails from Sri Lanka, but moved to Antarctica. She's now one of the continent's few grandmasters. I actually was considering having her be part of a different team twice, but ultimately settled on having her be on team Antarctica.

アリーナ・ミミ (Arina Mimmi) is how Arina's name would be spelled in katakana. 益那 is how her first name would be written in kanji and means "increase" and "many".

Her birthday is August 17th. I chose the date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the queen.

Arina is actually half-Japanese, but was born on the Åland Islands. I was originally going to have her be on a different team, but ultimately felt having her on team Åland Islands was the right choice.

インケリ・ホンコ (Inkeri Honko) is how Inkeri's name would be written in katakana.

Her birthday is May 16th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the queen.

バラ・アホ博士 (Dr. Bára Aho) is how Bára's name would be written in katakana.

Her birthday is June 7th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the king.

If you saw some of the old artwork of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, you'll have noticed that both Bipasha and Bára were originally members of said team. However, I ended up completely reversing course on my original vision for the team as I felt the personalities I had in mind for the original roster wouldn't mesh well with the primary vision I have for said team.

ソルヴェイグ・ベルグマイト (Solveig Bergmight) is how Solveig's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is October 8th, which she shares with Solveig Gunbjørg Jacobsen, the first person to be born south of the Antarctic Convergence.

Her favorite piece is the knight.

Solveig was born in Antarctica, making her an Antarctic native. She's currently seeking to become the most famous person from the continent and frequently uploads videos of herself sledding down slopes and roaming around the land.

ウラ・クパリネン (Ulla Kuparinen) is how Ulla's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is August 18th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

ペンギ・マクマード博士 (Dr. Pengi McMurdo) is how Pengi's name would be spelled in Japanese.

Her birthday is February 16th, which is when McMurdo Station was first established.

Her favorite piece is the knight.

ヴァルボルグ・ユルヨ・コスキネン (Valborg Yrjö-Koskinen) is how Valborg's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is September 29th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the queen.

If you saw some of the old artwork of the teams, you'll know that Valborg's design was originally used for Myrtle Foat of the Australian women's team. I felt there was a better design for said character, so I redesigned her and ported her old design over to Valborg.

アグラエ・モンジュ博士 (Dr. Aglaé Monge) is how Aglaé's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is May 9th, which she shares with French mathematician, Gaspard Monge.

Her favorite piece is the queen.

オルガ・ホラッパ (Olgica Holappa) is how Olgica's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is August 17th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the bishop.

フィデルマ・フェリター (Fidelma Ferriter) is how Fidelma's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is February 19th, which she shares with Russian-Irish grandmaster, Alexander Baburin.

Her favorite piece is the king.

If you take a look at her rating, you'll notice that it is above 2900, indicating that she is a member of the WWCF's executive board, much like Gudit and Orit are. The reason for this is simply that I felt there needed to be a few more executive board members competing in the tournament.

ドリアン・オ・アン・チャインティゲ (Doireann Ó an Cháintighe) is how Doireann's name would be spelled in katakana.

Her birthday is July 8th. The significance behind this is that 7 is a lucky number in Irish culture, while 8 is considered to be the number those named "Doireann" are said to be the most lucky with.

Her favorite piece is the queen.

マネ・テル・グリゴリアン (Maneh Ter-Grigoryan) is how Maneh's name would be spelled in katakana. Մանե Տեր-Գրիգորյան (Maneh Ter-Grigoryan) is how it would be spelled in Armenian.

Her birthday is September 18th. I chose this date at random, so there's no greater significance behind why this date is her birthday.

Her favorite piece is the knight.

クロイア・グラス (Croía Glas) is how Croía's name would be written in katakana.

Her birthday is July 7th. The significance behind this is that 7 is a lucky number in Irish culture.

Her favorite piece is the bishop.

Not only does Croía share her surname with Sorcha, but her birthday as well. Though the exact relationship of these two to one another will remain a mystery for now.

Salpy was originally designed to be part of the Simien team. Back then, I had decided that the Simien team would mainly be a group of rock stars, which is why Salpy has such a punk design. However, I scrapped that idea and ended up porting Salpy over to the Armenian team.

Speaking of music icons, Zabel secretly is one, and Arpine is trying to expose her. This dynamic likely won't be properly highlighted, but I decided to at least add some context to it here. And with the bios done, it's on to the game.

This game was a fun match, with the challenge being writing out the justifications for why each character made the moves they did. Though I feel as though I at least succeeded in having each of the characters playing at their natural skill levels.

And now, the Bermuda party continues. I wasn't lying when I said this arc will be around 20 chapters long. Though to hype everyone up, I will reveal that not only will there be a game next chapter, but in a few chapters, Raymond himself will be challenged to a game by a high-leveled player. You'll definitely want to stay tuned for that, as it will be Raymond's first proper on-screen game in the series.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
