It's a me. I'm an aspiring light novel writer hoping to one day see my works in anime form. I hope that my works at least brighten up your day and give you something to look forward to.

    Author's Commentary #568:

Time to talk about the finale of Side Story 7, Chapter 568: The crappy chupacabra show.
Hey paisanos, it's the chupacabra sisters, unable to talk properly thanks to all the FX makeup covering their faces. I'll admit, I could have dragged this out a chapter or two more, but I felt it was probably best to finish things off here. I will confirm everyone was shaved bald, though it was a crappy job. Everyone with the exception of Alma got their hair back as well.

Though things were a bit rushed, the chupacabra show being crappy was planned from the start. I just didn't plan on it being as short as it was in the chapter. Part of the reason is that I want to shine more spotlight on the architect of all this, Oma.

Oma was the one that put together this whole play, mainly as a show of strength to debut herself to Mimoko. Yet, the chupacabra play led to some very noteworthy events occurring, notably Mimoko's kidnapping and match against Stanislava. Squidbeak seemingly being killed off will also play a role in the grand scheme of things, though it will be minor compared to some of the other stuff. We also can't forget that Mimoko Tanabe is still out there, and the mystery surrounding her no closer to being solved. She will play a part in Season 9 though, so look out for that.

Speaking of which, it's very likely Season 9 will be coming next, unless I'm unable to build a sizable enough backlog in time. In that case, expect more Kisha. I haven't forgotten about the top 10 character lists, though I'll confess, my top 10 favorites likely won't have too many changes. One final thing to note about Season 9 is that it will likely begin immediately with the first round of All-Japan. Though it is labeled as a Side Story, Side Story 7 serves as the intro to Season 9. And as a general reminder, all Side Stories in the main series are canon, with the only reason they're labeled as Side Stories simply due to the fact that they tend to be so short. In hypothetical volume releases, they'd likely be merged with some of the seasons.

That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.

It fluctuates. Some days I can sit down and write for hours, other days I just don't want to think about writing and do other things. I feel sparks of inspiration are why I'm able to write a lot, as once I'm inspired, my motivation increases. With my contest entry, it started off really sluggish, but once more concrete ideas came to me, I was able to both write things coherently and build up a backlog before I knew it.

Having backlog is also one of the ways I'm able to upload so frequently, but there are times I deplete it. EPGM is much different from any of my other works in the sense that I also have to play out a game ahead of time before I can even write a match. While I was writing Season 7, there were times I had inspiration and wrote chapters immediately after finding the game, and other times I struggled to drag myself to the keyboard to type out a game or two. Writing this series for over a year, I can confirm it's harder to sit down and write out games now than back in the earlier Seasons, though it could just be I'm still a bit burned out from Season 7 as that did take nearly 8 IRL months to write. Not to mention, my aforementioned contest entry dominated my writing time for August, which led to me mostly writing short slice of life chapters for how the main characters spend their days, nights, and weekends. Now that EPGM has my full attention again, I gotta sit down and write some games for the latest arc, which will soon be Season 9.

One final thing I'll mention is in regards to the game. Turns out you played the Damiano Defense, which is named after Portuguese chess player, Pedro Damiano. It's not the best opening, but it sure has a cool name. Thanks again for playing. Though it's far ahead from where you currently are in the story, I'll be sure to give you a heads up when I post the chapter containing the game we played.

I'm glad to hear there were those that liked this story as is. It was clear to me that you had a lot of passion for this project, and were willing to take the huge risk of upsetting fans of the original with the genre shift. Even though I didn't like it, I'm hoping more check it out as it is a novel worth reading for those fight scenes alone.

I completely get where you're coming from with JNC. There were a few of my novels I submitted to JNC just for the heck of it to see if maybe they'd be accepted. The 1st year I submitted Life Stream and Spice of Life, and while they didn't make the cut, I did get feedback on why they didn't, which I felt really helped improve my writing as a whole. With the last one, I submitted EPGM's 1st season and a heavily revised version of Escape:Witch. Neither of them made it, though I really did try with EPGM, and had some friends and family proof-read it. I'll definitely try submitting it again, assuming of course there aren't any new rules that would prevent a story like it from entering.

Glad to hear Hi-flyers is one of the next works you'll try submitting. My only recommendation would be to better flesh out the side characters, mainly Sarge, and probably tone down the Jake from State Farm screen time, with my opinion remaining the same that his role for a certain scene be replaced with Sarge or someone else from the main cast.

Best of luck with that, and looking forward to when you decide to upload Wadakoi.
