Author's Commentary #265:
Time to talk about Chapter 265: Collapse.
Just as I hinted at in the previous commentary, Mimosa's loss has greatly shifted the tide. To be fair, Alice was in a pretty bad position before Mimosa blundered her way to mate, but her game did last longer.
Speaking of the game, when I noticed the eval bar shifting in Tenju's favor, I honestly couldn't see why it was. To be fair, I'm not a grandmaster, but even then, I feel that position would only be navigable in real life with the assistance of an engine. Though in the end, Tenju won.
Now Japan leads 2-0, meaning that even if France won the remaining games, the result would end in a 2-2 draw. While it hasn't officially been touched on properly in the story yet, I'll explain a bit on how the team scoring works. Regardless of margin of victory, a team gets 2 points for a win, and 1 point for a draw. Losing results in no point gain. Thus, 22 points is the maximum amount of points a team can get.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
