Fried Liver, huh? Nothing wrong with it as it's a great opening for beginners. That being said, I feel a bit mixed on this. I feel that the explanations for what forks are and how the notation works broke the immersion a bit, especially the notation bits. In visual format, the "+" symbol would not be shown unless of course they're writing down their moves, which I don't think they're doing. While I know it's important to understand the fundamentals of chess, there are better ways to do it. Explaining how notation works before the game begins would have been the better play in my opinion.

Why do the bishops look like elephant trunks? I know the bishop's predecessor was the alfil, but the modern bishop doesn't really resemble an elephant's trunk in my opinion.

The first few lines at the start were a bit confusing. I'd honestly cut the part where Shinji asks, "Who or what are you", and start with him realizing he hasn't introduced himself yet. On another note, looks like it's time for some chess action. This is what I've been looking forward to.
