Author's Commentary #247:
Time to talk about Chapter 247: The American team's meeting.
This chapter introduces all the remaining members of the American men's team. Funnily enough, they're all parodies of real-life chess players. Now let's do their bios.
ヒューバート・ノイマン (Hubert Neuman) is how Hubert's name is spelled in katakana.
His birthday is June 20th, which he shares with American grandmaster, Hans Nieman.
His favorite piece is the pawn.
リーバイ・アーロン (Levi Arron) is how Levi's name is spelled in katakana.
His birthday is October 6th, which he shares with Armenian-American grandmaster, Levon Aronian.
His favorite piece is the bishop.
ルイージ・カルパニ (Luigi Carpani) is how Luigi's name is spelled in katakana.
His birthday is July 30th which he shares with Italian-American grandmaster and current number 2 player in the world, Fabiano Caruana.
His favorite piece is the knight.
As for the ratings, Luigi's is what Fabiano's unofficial peak rating was, Hubert's is what Hans' current rating is, and Levi's is what Levon's current rating is. Peter has now also crossed 2900, but his WWCF card remains teal colored as purple is only reserved for executive board members. In a sense, the American team is essentually Bobby FIscher, Paul Morphy, Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian, and Hans Nieman. In other words, a stacked team. With an average rating of 2854.8, they're easily the top seed in the Chess Olympics. If Japan manages to face them, the match up truly will be epic, but if they do, I imagine it wouldn't be until the latter end of the tournament.
That's all for this commentary. I hope you enjoyed it.
