I have a few questions and criticisms if you don't mind.
Shouldn't the village have seen the approaching Kaltor army and ran? Or at least warned everyone? It seemed like Vatra just woke up, got to work and poof. The Kaltor are killing everyone.

One criticism I have so far is that your synonym choice seems to be rather weak. I don't really get the feel that Vatra is all that desperate from the synonym choice.

This chapter feels rather lazy. I think you're too focused on explaining every detail of how exactly mana and this parasite works. But the thing is.... I don't care. I can't care. Why do I need to know all these details? Mana is a physical substance and thus falls under physical attributes. The parasite is a mana hivemind. That's all we need. Details are cool and all, but there's a line between unnecessary and enriching details.

I'm more interested in what the parasite looks like. How did Simon attach it? Where did it come from? Is it like a leech? A crab? Maybe it's closer to a tick? Right now, I'm imagining a tapeworm-like creature that burrows into his flesh and branches out into his veins. And why is it draining him of literally everything? I thought parasites need a living host? If it just eats everything and basically kills him, then doesn't that just make it a carnivore?
The parasite is an interesting idea, but I feel like it could be handled much better.
