This interlude flips the atmosphere on its head, and in a very good way. Gone is the cyberpunk vibe as we head back to the fantasy spectrum, and yet thing are still modern enough to not be dulled in the traditional "medieval European" setting, even though the old-school castle and politics would suggest otherwise. A closest comparison I'd make would be to Fullmetal Alchemist (ironic considering the biggest magic we've learned here is ferromancy) - some part fantastical, yet somewhat futuristic at the same time.
